A
Active Assignment

An assignment that is visible on the Dashboard

Active Documents

The three most recently modified documents that will show up on the Dashboard

Admin (tab)

A tab used by administrators consisting of options for users, templates, or keys

Administrator Console

A screen under the Course Admin tab consisting of the Import Course Catalog, Import Student Roster, and Import Student Profile information and option. This screen is also where the Course Editor and Exporter links are located.

All (tab)

A tab inside of documents or reviews that will show all of the documents or reviews held within an account regardless of label; will not show any trashed documents or reviews in this tab

Announcements (tab)

A tab under Courses where instructors can post information for their course section

Announcements Widget

An area on the Dashboard where information displays for course sections posted by instructors

Apply Label

Applies the specified label to a document, review, or file without removing all current labels associated with the document, review or, file

Archive (File Manager)

A label under the File Manager which can store external files uploaded to LiveText

Archive (Forms)

A label under the Forms Dataset tab which can store forms that are not currently active

Assessment

A review or evaluation that has been performed on a student's submission using an assessment tool (i.e. rubric)

Assessment Reports

Assessment Reports will generate report data collected from assessments completed on documents sent for review

Assignment

A task that requires a submission from the student

Attachment

An external file that has been uploaded into the LiveText application and linked or attached to a LiveText Document

Buy Online

This option will allow someone to go through the process of purchasing and registering a LiveText account. The user will need to choose which type of membership they would like during this process.

C1

The Course-based version of LiveText

C1 Assessment Reports

Assessment Reports that will generate report data collected from assessments completed on course submissions

Cancel

Cancels any action inside of LiveText without committing the action

Category

A collection of documents or reports that are contained in the ExhibitCenter™

Change Label

Removes the current label that is associated with a document, review or file and changes it to the label specified

Comment

Feedback left by reviewers at the document, page, section, or text-level within a LiveText document that has been submitted

Community (tab)

A tab consisting of Groups, Group Discussions, Resources, and Library

Course Admin

A tab that allows courses, student rosters, and student profiles to be imported; contains the course editor and exporter options

Course Catalog

A list of courses, sections, and instructors within a spreadsheet to be imported into the LiveText system

Course Section

A class that a student or faculty member can be loaded into by the on-campus LiveText Administrator which appears on the Dashboard, under the Courses tab, or under View Other Terms

Courses

A class taken by a student or being taught by an instructor that has been imported and displays within an individual's LiveText account.

Courses (tab)

A tab that allows faculty members and students to view all current courses

Dashboard

Main screen that shows Active Assignments, Active Documents, and Active Reviews

Dataset

Contains all of the responses from a launched form

Datasets (tab)

A tab inside of the forms tab that allows the user to view all of the datasets for all forms in the account

Discussion (Course Level)

Discussion that is started within a Course section and includes all members of the course

Discussion (Group)

Discussion that is started with a predetermined Group of LiveText users

Document

A LiveText document consists of pages and sections

Document (Private)

A document that cannot be shared with other users and will only be accessible by the owner of the document

Document (Public)

A document shared with others through a public URL

Document (Shared)

A document that can viewed by the users that have had the document shared with their accounts

Document Sharing

The Share button is located in any LiveText document and can be used to share a LiveText document with any user or Visitor Pass; documents can be shared with viewers or editors; viewers can only view the document or create a copy while editors can modify the original document in the owner's account

Document Style

A style that can be applied to the document to make it more aesthetically pleasing

Documents

A tab that contains all of the LiveText documents in an account

Documents Inbox

This tab shows all of the documents that have been shared with the account by other LiveText users

Documents Sent

This tab shows all of the documents that have been shared with other users in LiveText

Documents (tab)

A tab within the C1 version of LiveText that allows access to all LiveText documents in an account and contains the function to create new documents

Domain

Each institution is given a domain that differentiates all students, faculty and administrators into their own specific area of LiveText.

Download

This option will allow you to download any file that is in the File Manager to open or save to your hard drive.

Draft

An assessment or review completed that is not final or official in Legacy; it may have been completed to advise a student on corrections or information to include in final official submission.

Editor

The HTML based word processor that that allows users to create content in LiveText

ExhibitCenter™/Exhibits

This area contains all of the documents and reports that have been shared with the ExhibitCenter™ for all of the viewers, editors, or visitors to view within the domain

Export (Document)

A function that allows a user to pull their LiveText document out of the system; Files/folders are produced that the user can store on computer or email to someone if needed.

Export Assessment

A function that allows Legacy and/or Reviews tab assessments to be pulled out of the system into Excel

Export Course Assessment

A function that allows C1 only/course-based assessments to be pulled out of the system into Excel

Export Courses

A function that allows course information that has been imported to be pulled out of the system into Excel

Export Profile

A function that allows student profile information that has been imported to be pulled out of the system into Excel

Export Raw

A domain within LiveText that allows the privilege to export assessments, course assessment, and rubric standards

Export Roster

A function that allows student roster information that has been imported to be pulled out of the system into Excel

Export Rubric Standards

A function that allows assessment rubric standards where data has been collected to be pulled out of the system into Excel

Export to CSV

This option allows users to Export data to a database file format outside of LiveText

Faculty

The instructors of the courses; faculty are given their accounts in LiveText by utilizing the faculty key code that is associated with the domain.

Faculty ID

ID number issued by the institution that will be used to help match courses to faculty accounts

Faculty Keycode

A seven character code that is used by faculty members to register accounts with LiveText

Faculty Online Training

These complimentary one-hour online training sessions are designed for faculty members, coordinators, and leaders to receive a general overview on various LiveText topics. These sessions are ideal for training and refreshing knowledge and skills.

File Attachment

Any file that has been attached to a section within a LiveText document

File Manager

A storage area that houses all external files that have been uploaded into a user account

Final

An assessment or review completed that is final or official in Legacy; it may be completed on a student's final submission.

Forgot Username/Password

Link on the login page that will allow any user in LiveText to retrieve their username or password through email or by answering their security question

Form Builder

Area in LiveText that will allow a user to create a form in LiveText

Form Viewer Section

A section that will show all responses to a completed form in the Forms tab in a LiveText document

Formative

When an assessment is completed this is the "Practice" scoring option that is chosen right before submitting the assessment

Forms

Surveys that can be given to users, courses, or the public; contain many fields that will collect information in datasets in the form owner's account

Forms Inbox

All of the forms that are located in users account that are to be taken by the user; all forms that have been launched to the account

G
Group

Created in the Tools tab; this is a collection of LiveText users that are put together to make it easier to share documents with multiple users or to start discussions without entering each user's name

HelpCenter (this)

A resource for students, faculty, and administrators containing instructions and information for functions within LiveText

I
Image

A picture file that is a usable image such as .jpeg, .png, .gif

Instructor

The person responsible for conducting the course on LiveText; the person who will assess, post and assign assignments

L
Label

A feature that allows file, documents, or reviews organization in LiveText; similar to folders in Windows

Latest Submission

The most recent submission of any Assignment that has been posted to a course

Launch (Course)

A form that is launched to a specific course in the domain

Launch (Private)

A form that is launched to specific users in LiveText

Launch (Public)

A form that is launched publicly will provide a URL that will enable anyone on the internet to take the form as many times as they wish

Launch (tab)

A tab in the Forms area that will bring a user to the Launch Wizard

Launch Wizard

The launch wizard will guide you through the steps necessary to prepare your form for distribution. In the pages that follow, you will choose a form, create a list of recipients, and customize your form's settings; the launch wizard will conclude with the actual launch of your form. Upon completion of launch, a form dataset is created to collect your form's results.

Learn360

An educational video content provider that has partnered with LiveText; search for video content and link to that content in a LiveText document.

Legacy

The preceding version of LiveText's current application.

Library

A collection of all documents that have been shared by LiveText users for public viewing

LiveText Coordinator

On campus LiveText Administrator and liaison between the institution and LiveText Inc.

LiveText Document

A document that consists of pages and sections

LiveText Forum

Virtual gathering place where LiveText members can share ideas about LiveText; accessible from with your LiveText membership account

LiveText Link

A tool located in the editor tool bar that allows a user to create a hyperlink within one LiveText document that references and opens another LiveText document from within the same account.

M
Manage My Labels (tab)

A tab that allows a LiveText user to create, order, hide, edit or delete all of the labels in their LiveText account

Manage Pages (page)

Allows a user to change add, edit, and re-order the pages within a document.

Manage Sections (page)

Allows a user to change add, edit, and re-order the sections within a page.

Marketing Site

LiveText's main informational page which includes a variety of product and company information as well as the user login fields, livetext.com.

My Account

Area that allows user to view and edit their personal/profile content (i.e. email, student ID, etc.)

My Work (tab)

The default tab that is shown when the Documents Tab is selected; shows all of the documents that are owned by the account owner unless the document has been manually moved out of the label

Official

An assessment or review completed that is final or official in C1; it may be completed on a student's final submission.

P
Page

This will appear in the table of contents in a LiveText document; a page will consist of sections where users can input their content in LiveText.

Page-level Comment

This is a comment that is made in an assignment submission review or document review that will appear at the top of the page; this comment will reflect an opinion upon the entire page as opposed to a text-level comment that is a comment on one portion of text in the section.

Paste as Plain Text

Strips formatting when copying and pasting into a LiveText document

Personal Email Address

Primary means of communication between user and LiveText; an email address that can be accessed only by the user of the account

Pin

Personal Identification Number (PIN) that is required by some institutions in order for courses to be matched correctly with a user's account

Placeholder

An account that is created because the system is unable to match a course(s) with any user in LiveText

Practice

An assessment or review completed that is not final or official in C1; it may have been completed to advise a student on corrections or information to include in final official submission.

Production Site

LiveText's active live website and application, livetext.com.

R
Register Account

This option is used when a user needs to register a key code in order to access his/her account membership; this option will only be used by customers who have not purchased their membership accounts on the LiveText website.

Renewal

Once an account has expired, a renewal fee of $25, $40 or $55 will be available for 1, 2, or 3 years respectively; Learn360® can be renewed one time for a charge of $10.

Reports

Contain assessment data from assessment rubrics chosen from the domain

Reports (ExhibitCenter™)

Saved Reports that can be viewed by anyone in the domain that has privileges

Resources (Community)

Ability to search Resources that are contained in LiveText documents in the Library

Resources section

Section that allows users to enter personal, Learn360® or URL resources; all resources will be clickable links in the document view.

Resubmission

A submission that occurs after the instructor has viewed the initial or a previous submission and has performed a "request resubmission"

Review

Any document that has been sent for review will become a review; reviews can be assessed by utilizing assessment documents in LiveText.

Review Sent

This tab shows all of the documents that have been sent for review; this area will show when and to whom the document was sent for review.

Reviewer

This is the LiveText user that has received a review; they will be able to review and assess the document using an assessment document in LiveText.

Reviews Inbox

This shows users all of the reviews that have been received in LiveText.

Reviews (tab)

This tab allows users to see all reviews that have been sent or received inside of LiveText.

Rubric section

Section that contains assessment rubrics; can be matched with standards and have many different elements and levels of achievement

Save and Finish

Button that is pressed to save all changes to a section; will take user back to the document view

Save Changes

Button that will save changes made in the section editor but will allow you to continue working on your content

School Email Address

Email Address that is provided by the institution and the email that is used to match users with their courses

Section

An area inside of a page of a LiveText document where content can be entered; sections can come in five formats: Text & Image, Standards, Rubric, Resources, and Form Viewer

Section Editor/CK Editor

Area where all text content is entered into text and image sections; content can be formatted in this section editor by using the toolbar located above the textbox.

Section-level Comment

This is a comment that is made in an assignment submission review or document review that will appear at the top of the section; this comment will reflect an opinion upon the entire section as opposed to a text-level comment that is a comment on one portion of text in the section

Security Answer

The answer to the security question that is used to reset your password or access your account over the phone

Security Hint

A word or words that can be used to help the user remember the answer to the security question.

Security Question

Question that can be used to verify ownership of the account; should be easily remembered and answered by the user but hard for anyone to guess

Share (ExhibitCenter™)

Allows users who do not have access to the ExhibitCenter™ privileges to become viewers, editors, or visitors of the ExhibitCenter™

Smart Label

A feature that allows organizing of files, reviews, or documents based on rules and criteria that are set during the creation of the smart label

Standards

Criteria established by an educational institution to determine levels of student achievement

Standards & Outcomes (tab)

Tab that allows faculty to add outcomes & standards to a course section in LiveText

Standards section

A tab that allows faculty to add outcomes & standards to a course section in LiveText

Student

Any user within LiveText that purchased a student membership; (Student) will appear next to their name when logged in

Student ID

ID number issued by the institution that will be used to help match courses to student accounts

Student Keycode

A 16 character code that is used to register student accounts in LiveText

Student Profile

This is found in the "My Account" area and contains the following: Academic Program, Major, Concentration, Class, GPA History, Standardized Tests

Student Roster

An Excel file that contains all of the students to be placed into courses in LiveText

Submit Assignment

Button on the Dashboard or in the Assignments area of the Courses tab that will take students to the awaiting submission area; allows students to submit an assignment to a course

Sub(tab)

A tab within a main tab (i.e. "Inbox" tab under "Reviews" tab)

Summative

When an assessment is completed this is the "Official" scoring option that is chosen right before submitting the assessment

Table

Created inside of the section editor and consists of rows and columns; used to display information in a grid-like fashion

Table of Contents

List of all pages contained inside of a LiveText document

Template

A LiveText document that allows users to have a framework or layout to complete their work; many templates will have many pages and sections created that can be used to complete coursework or assignments in LiveTextany pages and sections created that can be used to complete coursework or assignments in LiveText

Term

An identifier of all courses uploaded and associated with a certain length of time (i.e. Fall 2010 set from 08/25/2010 to 12/15/2010)

Term of Service

The Terms of Service outline all of the requirements and regulations of LiveText; they must be agreed to before an account can be created or purchased and are subject to change.

Text and Image section

Section that can have text or images entered

Text-level Comment

A comment that can be made on a review directly at the level of the text; a comment bubble will be present at the point in the text where the comment is relevant.

Tools (tab)

Tab that contains the following options: Reports, Standards & Outcomes, Visitor Passes, and File Manager

Trash

A folder that contains all deleted LiveText documents; all documents in the trash are recoverable.

U
Unsubmit

An option that can be used when a review has been sent but has not yet been assessed (needs complete list of rules)

Upload

Files that need to be added to LiveText must be uploaded into the system

URL

URL is the address of a web page on the World Wide Web, e.g. http://www.example.com

Username

A name used at login that is unique to a particular user

V
View Assessment

Button that allows a student to view an assessment on the assignment that has been submitted and graded

Viewer

A document that has been shared with a viewer will allow the viewer to view the document without editing or copying rights

Visitor Pass

Allows a LiveText user to share their documents with someone who does not currently have an account in LiveText; A Visitor's Pass has a code that is required to login and all of the documents that are shared with that pass are viewable with this visitor pass code
